Portrait in oil paint

One of the biggest canvasses I have painted to date, this one took a while to complete, four sessions over about six months. I wanted to get a feeling of layers of confusion and boxes, anxiety and stress, a feeling of separation as an inward feeling of separating from oneself, rather than separation from others or anyone specific. The feeling of falling apart a little to the point of experiencing contradicting thoughts and emotions simultaneously, the feeling of being separated from the parts of yourself you require to function. Hence the name ‘Separation Anxiety’.
